You’ve made the leap and created an Instagram account for your brand or business, now it’s time to take the next step and start advertising on Instagram. First, you’ll need to have a Facebook fan page in order to configure your advertising campaigns. Once you have this up and running, follow the steps below to create your ads on Instagram:

Configure your accounts to be able to advertise on Instagram
In order to create your ads on Instagram, you’ll need to first link your Instagram account to your Facebook fan page. First head to your Facebook fan page. Go to ‘Configuration’, select ‘Instagram Ads’ and link your Instagram account. Once your Instagram account is syncronized with your Facebook fan page it should appear in your list of ‘Instagram Accounts for Advertising’.
Make sure you have access to Instagram Ads via the Power Editor
The next step is to verify that advertising for Instagram is activated. TO verify this do the following: 1. Go to Facebook Ads and select the ‘Power Editor’. 2. Once you have downloaded everything required, click on ‘Create a Campaign’. 3. Define a name for your campaign and select the objective option of ‘Clicks to Website’. If advertising for Instagram is activated you’ll see that the option ‘Create Ads for Instagram’ appears. 4. Next, define a name for your ad set and click on ‘Create’. 5. Select the ad set on the left hand menu, and click on ‘Edit’. 6. A configuration menu will appear, look for the option ‘Placement’ and check that Instagram appears as an option. If it appears, you’re ready to go!
Start creating Instagram Ads
To create your Instagram Ads you’ll need to use the Power Editor as explained in the previous step. To create ads for both Facebook and Instagram, do the following: 1. Select the option of create a new campaign and select the objectives for your Instagram ads (clicks to your website or video views). 2. Define the name of your ad set and click on ‘Create’. 3. Head to the section of ad sets and click on ‘Edit’. Here you’ll have to define your budget, duration of campaign, audience, and select Instagram as the place where your ads will appear (and deselect other places on Facebook, so the ad only appears on Instagram). 4. Next, you’ll have to click on ‘Create an Ad’, define its name and configure the account associated to your Instagram, the destination link of the call to action button, text of your ad (you have to 300 characters), the image for your ad (a square photo of 1080px by 1080px), select the call to action from the available list in the Power Editor, and add pixel tracking. 5. Once you’re done, click on ‘Upload Changes’ to upload your new campaign to the Power Editor and, once validated by Instagram, to Instagram feeds worldwide!
